It was an unusual Saturday at Mende community, Maryland Lagos. Members of the UAC including participants of the UAC Leadership Training Programme adorned their green and white T-shirt with the insignia, Change Nigeria.

They stormed the suburb for medical outreach, environmental sanitation, free legal counseling clinic and civic engagement advocacy.

Residents came out for medical checks. Blood sugar level of aged residents were checked while the younger people showed more interest in knowing their HIV/AIDS status.

The legal team led by senior lawyers proffered practical legal counsel to affected residents free of charge.  Landlord/ Tenant rights topped the array of questions raised by the residents.

The environmental sanitation visited the slums of Mende especially swampy areas and cleared drainages, applied pesticides to exterminate rodents and other dangerous harmful germs-carrying insects.

On the other hand, the civic engagement and advocacy team which was populated by graduates of  the UAC Leadership Programme went to town with UAC gospel of change. Residents were encouraged to show greater interest in democratic exercises and ensure that elected officers are accountable to them.

Mende resident who were shocked by the selfless community service undertook enthusiastically by UAC members appreciated UAC for the service.
